100 of #100DaysofSatoshiDoodles

Today’s post is inspired by a suggestion to illustrate a doodle based on Robert Frost’s poem, “The Road Not Taken”. It seems fitting for Bitcoin, so here we are, revisiting a fork in the road.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

A quick Google refresher (because I don’t remember the whole thing from high school English Literature class) led me to an article explaining how it’s possibly The Most Misread Poem in America. The poem isn’t a salute to can-do individualism; it’s a commentary on the self-deception we practice when constructing the story of our own lives.

It is a poem about the necessity of choosing that somehow, like its author, never makes a choice itself—that instead repeatedly returns us to the same enigmatic, leaf-shadowed crossroads.

I don’t have any astounding commentary on the current situation in Bitcoin. Censorship and propaganda are powerful but objective truths cannot remain hidden forever. BCH is ready for worldwide adoption. BTC is not.

I’m very grateful for the Yours and BCH community’s interest in the funny little drawing project called “Satoshi Doodles”.

THANK YOU for your ongoing comments, encouragement, and appreciation.

A special thank you to everyone who has expressed support with Yours, reddit, and twitter tipping magic. I can hardly believe that the internet is on the brink of an explosion in which artists, writers, and other content/value creators can be rewarded for their work with BCH.

Thank you to Emilio and Kevin and the team at Yours.org (including Clemens Ley).

Thank you especially to Ryan X. Charles!

And thank you @KoKansei (whoever you are)!

(At the risk of beginning to sound a bit like an Oscars acceptance speech, I’ll add:

Thank you to Roger Ver for taking one for the team on a daily basis and for being a passionate, relentless proponent of economic freedom for everyone.

Thank you to miners!

Thank you to developers (protocol level and beyond)!

Thank you to the Bitcoin community at large, especially those who are helping to educate others and keep it positive! (Um, and troll-swatting.)

Thank you Satoshi(s)!!!)

I’ve been asked, what are next steps for Satoshi Doodles?

  1. I will be continuing to doodle while I put together a book, and keep you all posted!
  2. Art prints, coming soon™ . (I know I’ve been saying that for a few months now.)
  3. Original artwork is eventually going to be available for purchase. Part proceeds to some worthy causes? Does anyone want to make a BCH auction site? (Or maybe I’ll figure out how to do this on Yours.org.) 😉
  4. Keep learning.
